Founded in 1971 as World Wide Weatherrouteing, DMI Maritime Service is one of the biggest centers in Europe providing global weather- routeing. Our aim is still to secure the safest and most economical route in close cooperation and dialogue with Masters and Ship Owners.
Today weatherrouteing is one of the only means to reduce ship induced CO2 emissions and save fuel. Especially as more ships tend to use economical speed causing prolonged passage times, the need to see upcoming weather trends beyond the 10 day barrier that automated products usually deliver, can be critical in choosing the best route. Our forecasters have many years of experience providing global weatherrouteing for both ocean and coastal passages and our advice are viewed by many customers as a reliable and indispensable service and supplement to onboard weather planning systems.
In cooperation with FORCE Technology, DMI Maritime Service has developed the onboard system SeaPlanner and SeaPlanner with the FuelSaver Technology Module. Please refer to the Onboard system pane for more information.
DMI Maritime Service, being a division in the Danish Meteorological Institute, has access to the best meteorological models and satellite observations, our own super computer and our research departments are constantly keeping us on the front end of the latest trends and developments.
