
Using the web solution Marine Forecast Service, DMI Maritime Service provides detailed forecasts in an easy and user-friendly layout for wind farms. Developed to meet the needs of some of the largest offshore wind farms in the world; Horns Rev 2 and Rødsand 2, the web service combine the computer modeled weather forecast with the experienced marine forecasters comments and if available actual wind and wave observations onsite. The forecasts are both available online or forwarded as an e-mail.
Receiving warning about lightning and thunderstorms are critical to the safety during both construction and maintenance of a wind farm.
Marine Forecast Service provides the user with a 48 hours lightning index indicating the probability of lightning over the area.
Upon request, DMI Maritime Service will actively monitor the position of the wind farm for approaching thunderstorms and lightning strikes, and we make every effort to provide minimum 2 hours warning if possible to the work vessel coordinator or control center enabling them to launch the necessary precautions.
